Project-Based Homeschooling, Legos, and Stop-motion Animation

So I read Project-Based Homeschooling by Lori Pickert and didn't think I would be able to put it into effect with my 13 and 14 year olds and decided it might serve me with grandchildren in the future.

Well, one week a few weeks ago I decided that Brett needed a week off from video games.  The first day, after saying he was bored, Brett decided to bring the Legos into the house because he was desperate for entertainment.  He and Cait used to be HUGE into Legos but last year they decided they were done with them so we put them into several large totes and they've been in the garage.

Playing with Legos led them to try to make a Brick Movie, or a stop-motion animation video.  It was really cute!  I was so impressed.  I decided to buy a new set to inspire some more movie ideas.  They chose the miner set and also a fire engine set.

Then they decided to paint some poster boards to use as backgrounds.  They also have a black poster board for night time.
